So here is the long story from Rob's perspective...

It was New Years Eve and we didn't want to do anything, we were both tired from work and just ready for a couple days off. We had plans to spend the next couple days off with our friends Kris, Bekki, and their 2 adorable kids. For the most part it had the fixens to be a nice little few days to just chill.

After much deliberation on where to eat, we came to the conclusion that the Keg steak house is always worth the wait, and today the wait was over an hour. The waiting area was totally packed and standing room only. It was ripping cold outside, but i elected to stand out there in the "fresh air" for a while and wait. When Kris and Bekki showed up they promptly convinced us to go inside and make room to sit. We managed to get the wives a place to sit and we waited and waited and waited.

Finally we heard "Jennifer party of 4" and it was finally our turn. We ordered our food, Jennifer was so looking forward to her teryaki sirloin and king crab legs, as for me my mouth was watering for my top sirloin and baked potato! (my mouth waters as i think about it even now). Our salad came out 1st, we decided to share the salad because it's so big and it would be a crime not to finish your dinner at the Keg!

Three bites into our salad, Jennifer excuses herself to the restroom. "Odd she just went" i thought, no biggy I've seen the get up to pee 5 times in 30min before. She walks about 5 steps, turned around and says "UM my water just broke, we gotta go!", "you sure you didn't just pee yourself?" "Honey look at me!", "Ok we gotta go it looks like". Like that we rounded up our stuff and we were off, as we waddled out to the car with Jennifer's legs getting wetter and wetter, we hear a "Wait!" "Jennifer wait!" It's Bekki running across the parking lot with a dinner roll in her hand " Here eat this, once you get there you can't eat anything but ice chips and water!". With that we sped off to the hospital, we called some people to get the word out and it did.

We checked in and got Jennifer set in here room, and got her a hot shower to clean up a little. So far there hasn't been a whole lot of contraction action. With the family out in the waiting room( i think we had everyone there that lived in Washington) Jennifer walked the halls with me and with some of the family members. Kris and Bekki showed up and they brought our food. I promptly ate mine (with my hands mind you) as quick as i could. I didn't want Jennifer to catch on and get all pissed because she wanted her crab legs!

We brought in the New Year in the waiting room with the family. At this point the plan was to let Jennifer labor through the night and if she wasn't dilated enough in the morning they would start her on some stuff to help her along. In the morning she was given some petosen and that got things rolling.

After laboring all day and not dilating much past 3cm, Jennifer was beat and opted for an epidural, i let her tell you all about that one. Now she was able to take a much needed nap. We slept for about 3hrs and at about 8:30 the nurse checked on Jennifer and we 3 came to the conclusion that C-section was the choice we had at this point. Her water had been broken for 24hrs and it was time to move. By 9:00 i was changing into my sweet painters outfit and Jennifer was being prepped for surgery. And at 9:15pm we heard the sweet cries of our 1st born son.

What a life changing New Years, me resolution... Be the best Dad a kid could ask for.

Hey Schmalle! I don't know if you remember me...Sister Conner (now Jenna Livingston) but we served in Salt Lake at the same time and you were in Sugarhouse with me if I remember right. I LOVED this lil blog you have here and I'm glad you posted that info on the mission website. The picture of you and your lil guy together is so sweet.

It sounds like life is treating you wonderfully. I love hearing that. Do you know what's going on with anyone else in the mission???
