Logan's "Ride"

This "Johnny Jump-up" had been in our family for at least 10 years. The date on it says 1994. It has been through at least 10 kids that I know of. And it's still going strong. The weight limit on it is 25lbs. Shh, don't tell, Logan weighed in at 25lbs 3oz at his 12 month check-up. But it doesn't seem to have any stress at all. He really LOVES it A LOT! And Rob and I really LOVE it A LOT! It keeps him safe if I need to do things and it makes him so very happy. He literally goes bonkers in it.
I just can't see taking it away. I really need to record him on the camera being a Wild Thing. It's so funny. Rob and I sometimes will just lay on the bed and watch him. He is very talented, which I already knew when he was born, but this just confirms everything!

Sleeping Angel

So our poor little boy has another cold. First he had a stuffy nose because he was trying to push through the fourth tooth on top. When that finally came through he was clear for a couple of days, then the nose started in again. I could very well loose my mind! I am so sick and tird of sucking out Logan's nose I could scream, Logan screams, why can't I?
Anyway, when we went to check on him he was on his belly like he usually is. So like I always do, I put his blanket over him. Almost immediately he rolled over on top of both his blankets as if to say "I don't like to be covered up". He doesn't ever sleep on his back any more so we had to take a couple pictures. He was so tired last night, poor kid.

Like Father Like Son

I know you all have seen the cheese face that Logan usually gives the camera. Well, now you know where he gets it, his Dad! Good one Babe!

Rob made a solid block out of all of Logan's Mega Bloks. I was pretty impressed, then I made him take it apart so Logan could actually play with his own toys.

Did you notice the little round "zit band aid" on Logan's forehead? To give you a brief summary of the events for that day:
First he was playing with his "walker". He was using the side knob (it moves back and forth making noise at the same time) to lift himself up and his hand slipped off and hit hit his mouth on the knob. He cut his lip pretty good, blood dripping for a long time. And I think he chipped his tooth just a little bit. There aren't any sharp edges and he was only upset for a couple minutes, which is usually the case.
Second, we have a long piece of cardboard covered in butcher paper in front of the TV, WII, Play Station, etc to keep Logan out of it. Or at least to give me a chance to get him away before he can brake anything. I was on the computer and I heard him stand up to the cardboard (it crinkles, because of the paper) so I turned my head around and told him "No, get down" Like he actually understands me. I really do think he understands, but he thinks it's so darn funny that he is willikng to get yelled at to see me react. Anyway, he looks at me and smiles. I go back to my blog hopping or whatever it was I was doing, and I hear him get into it again, so I get up and start to walk over to him which is probably 7 or 8 feet away. Right as I was grabbing for his arm he realizes that "Oh crap Mom's gonna take me away and I won't be able to get what I came for". All of his body weight lunges forward, his hands slip off the cardboard barrier and faceplants the Play Station! He got the corner of it right smack dab in the middle of his forehead. The corner on the Play Station is a semi-rounded corner. But he landed so hard that it made a huge dent, brake the skin and bled pretty bad.
All I have to say is
"What a Freak Show"
My child is wild. I know, welcome to the Boy Club! He hurts himself all the time, smashes his face on the coffee table, bites his own finger, faceplants the floor because his walker is faster than he is, faceplants his crib rails, sticks his own fingers down his throat and gags (that's always a pleasure when we are in a restaurant), rolls off his Elmo couch and lands on something hard/sharp(he actually did that one the day before the double wammy). Seriously the list goes on and on.

Cuddling with Mama

So Logan has never really been a cuddle bug. Rob always reminds me that I did pray for an independent child, not a cling-on. So that is what I got. But as time goes on he is getting better at the cuddling thing. It makes me soooo happy! When he woke up from his nap yesterday Rob brought him over to me and he cuddled with me for about 15 or 20 minutes. It was so sweet. Usually he would sit up right away, but he actually relaxed and laid his head on me.

This is his Dinosaur blanket that I made for him for Christmas. It's huge and very warm.

12 Month Check-up/ Shotfest

Loganberry had his 12 month well-check appointment today. Poor little guy had to have 4 shots AND his big toe pricked! He cried so hard. I always feel so bad for him. I actually had pretty high hopes going in to the doctors, because last time he didn't cry at all. But he had to have his MMR, which apparently stings like a beast.

On a good note he is right on track for development. Except waving bye-bye. We are working on that daily. It was really exciting to actually have him accomplish all those things before his 1st birthday. In the past he has been behind, but not anymore. I guess he's not technically "behind" he is JUST a baby, and as we all know they are definitely on their own schedule. Especially my Yogi Bear.

His stats are:

Weight: 25 lbs 3 oz 75-90% (I knew it!)
Height: 29 3/4 inch 50% (He's still short like his Mama)
Head: 47 cm 75% (He's gotta hold all those brains somewhere!)

So all is well with our little (big) boy. He has another well-check at 15 months.

All caught up!

So I think I am finally all caught up. A lot has happened in the last 2 weeks, so my brain has been fried. Forgive me for taking so long to post. I hope you enjoy reading about our holidays, I know I enjoy reading about yours.
Love,
Jennifer

Happy 1st Birthday Logan Berry

Logan Keith Schmalle turned the big single digit on the 1st. It was his golden birthday (which I just realized as I was typing this). We had a lot of fun. We reserved the church again, like we did for Rob's birthday. It makes things so much easier, unless you forgot something at home. But all in all everything turned out wonderful. Thank you to those who came early and stayed late to help and those those who helped in between. I couldn't have done it without you!

Here are a few (ok a lot) of pictures that captured the moment.I pretty much opened all the presents, like usual, while Logan chewed on something.

Here is a big shout out to Bekki, she made Logan's cakes. She did a fabulous job, like usaul.
There is me carting food back and forth. We had a baked potato bar, fruit, veggies, punch, chex mix, chili dip and the best cake in the world!
Thank you to Rob, Pete and Keri for putting up all the decorations! It looked awesome! Oh and thanks to Ben (the tallest man I know) for keeping the streamers on the ceiling. They kept falling down in the center because the ceiling wouldn't hold a push pin very long.

Can you tell what his shirt says?
"What's not to like?"
Jake and Tommy
Landon, Logan's very first friend that he hadn't met until his birthday. I say first friend because Ben and Sarah Shepherd were in our labor and birth class with us. We didn't even know the other one was pregnant until the first class. Sarah was due 1 week before me, but of course Logan came 4 weeks early. Sarah wasn't so happy with me at the time. To be honost, I kinda felt bad cuz her pregnancy was a little more ruff than mine. Oh well, we both have handsome and healthy little boys.
Family and Friends/ Logan's admirers/ groupies.

Baby Westley Bolopue. Auntie Bekki getting in some baby time.
Kris and Tommy joe
Putting the candle in the cake. We weren't supposed to have a flame in the church but I said "to heck with that, it's one candle and it's his 1st Birthday!" so we did.
Mommy making sure Logan doesn't burn himself. That would be a story to tell!
So what do I do when you turn that camera off?
Can I actually touch it, with my hands!?
Am I gonna get yelled at? He is looking right at me as he puts his hands in the cake, he really thought I was going to say No.
Mmmmmmmm Goooooooooooood!
Poser
He tried to suck every last bit off his hands and arms.

Straight to the kitchen sink for clean up.

Happy Birthday Logan, Mommy and Daddy love you sooo much. We are so very proud of you and every thing you have accomplished this year. You are such a big boy now, being 3 1/2 times your birth weight and all. You make our days so much better than we could ever hoped for. Thank you so much for choosing us to be your Mommy and Daddy, we will always cherish the time we have with you!

New Years Eve

Does anyone remember what Rob & I were doing last New Years Eve night?
Let me help you....

Please don't look too close....

You got it, in labor! Lame! I didn't get my steak and crab legs and Kris and Bekki had to pay for our dinner. But this year, we didn't quite make it back to the Keg but I did get my crab legs! We went to the Crab Cracker for dinner. I had never been before, it was very good.
Jack the "Lemon Head".
"The Crossley Clan"
I think Jack has the sweetest face, next to Logan of course. He's got those big brown eyes and long dark eye lashes and of course the old man bald head. I think Logan and Jack are part of "No hair for babies" club.
Who brought the gnome? Oh, it's Yogies. Silly baby, silly Daddy!

Playing with his new Mega Blocks!

Christmas: Part III "The Many Faces of Logan"

I can't believe how entertaining Logan is at such a young age. As soon as we prep the camera in front of him, a little orange light comes on and this si what he does......

My Mom bought us 60 picture stamps, this is the picture we used.

What's up Elvis!
