A list of words

What do all of these words have in common?:

no-no
yes
mom
dadda
moo
woof
quack
bye
love you
milk
car
ball
fishy
book
shoe
ball
vroom
whatever noise Rob has given a semi truck with the arm horn pulling motion.

Logan CAN say them all! A-mazing! I thought he would never talk. He doesn't use his words consistently, but he can say them and has said them more than a few times. It awesome to see the little wheels turning in his head.

This afternoon before naptime, we were picking up all the toys. He had a ton of kitchen spoons, etc all over the floor. I told him to pick up a spoon and a tupperwear container. Then before he could walk away I asked him to take 2 more spoon with him. He stopped, looked at me, took inventory of what he had, then put everything down and was able to pick up all the object I asked him to put away. He used to make more than one trip for those 4 items. He totally figured it out all by himself! I was so proud of him, and told him how proud I was of him.

We have a lot of frustrating days around here. So when we are actually working together it makes it all worth it.

Does anyone have a parenting book they would recommend for 18 months and older? He's getting to be quiet the handful and I could use some help. I hate being so mad/irritated AT him. I know he doesn't understand much yet, but I don't want him to get "the crazy mom" every time he does something naughty. If I had some parenting tools in my belt when I need them I think life could be a little more enjoyable for our family :)

Wow, his vocabulary has exploded! How fun!!

I read these books when kids were around Logans age and they were good, each provided a different look and gave me some helpful ideas:

The Happiest Toddler on the Block by Harvey Karp (this one is on my shelf right here if you want to borrow it)

Parenting with Love and Logic:The early childhood years by Jim Fay (can't find it at the moment)

The Discipline Book by Dr Sears (also here on my shelf if you want to borrow it!)

Next on my reading list is Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline by Becky Bailey - the focus of it is instead of saying no to everything, choose to redirect and tell your child what they SHOULD and CAN do. I think it looks really interesting.
