Happy 1/2 Birthday Logan!
I can't believe he is already 6months old. He is 1/2 way to 1 already. He has gone through so many changes in the last couple of months. He is now 18lbs 13oz & 26in. Wow what a big boy. My back has been telling me that he is 25lbs but I guess it's just saying that it's tired. Get used to it!
At about 4months we were having the worst time with sleeping. He just didn't want to lay down in his crib for anything. So we had a lot of restless nights. So of course I had to do something about that, because I need my sleep! I'm very cranky if I don't get at least 8 hours but 9 is best. I bought some blackout fabric and covered our skylight and the window so it is dark all day long. The other thing we tried was putting him to bed early. I didn't think that would work because he was getting up at 5:30 or 6 every morning and wanting to nurse, but would go back to bed after I fed him. So I figured if I put him to bed at 8 then I would be up 2 or 3 times during the night to nurse. Well to my wonderful surprise my little Logan does have my sleeping genes, he slept for 11 hours! Holy Smokies, I thought I was dreaming. He is also taking his naps in his crib like a big boy. I can even lay him down awake and he's ok. I thought I was going to be one of those moms that looked and felt like a zombie until my child was 18! I am so happy that I was wrong.
He is such a chatter box too! Oh, and of course drooling like a waterfall. No teeth yet. thank goodness. We are still breastfeeding so I am ok with no teeth. If he didn't get any teeth until he was 1 I would be thrilled! I don't see that happening though. He is almost rolling over, he gets onto his side and stays there then falls back onto is back. He is so close. He can scoot himself on his back. He goes in a circle or completely moves off his play mat.
We started him on solids and he totally loved it. I gave him rice cereal for a week then I made him butternut squash(I'm going to hand make all of his baby food, except for the cereal, because it is better for him, way cheaper and it is so easy) so he ate the squash for a couple of days then came down with a mild cold and completely stopped eating his solids. He just dry-heaves (Rob laughs)and spits it out. What a turkey! I thought there was something wrong with him but the Doc reassured me that that is totally normal. We will just keep trying once or twice a week until he comes around. She also recommended that I make some squash and cereal for him and strip him down to just a diaper and let him play with his food. I guess sometimes they feel threatened by the spoon. Who woulda thunk! I am going to try it, wish me luck. I will make sure to get some good pics.
In the pictures above, my family and I were playing Phase 10 (our most favorite game) and Logan seemed to think he needed to be in on the game too. So we let him trash one of the cards with the different phases on it. He thought that was so fun.
He is such a bundle of so many wonderful things. He is absolutely a dream come true. I love my boy so much, more than I ever could have imagined.
