as of lately i have been ignoring my blog. i've been facebooking though, does that count? no, but really, i've been packing like a mad women. rob and i applied for an apartment manager position in seattle (practically on UW's campus) last week. she said she was going to call us by friday to let us know if we got the job or not, but she called us early. sweet! we go in to today to sign all the paperwork and then i can go get the keys from the lady who is "watching" our building. the old managers moved out about 1.5 weeks ago. so it is all nice and clean for us. it is a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath 2 story townhome. the bedrooms are huge (we have a king size bed so the bedroom size is kinda a selling point), the living room is huge (lots of space for logan to roam), lots of closet/storage space, the parking sucks more than you can even imagine, i don't have a washer and dryer in my unit (this is usually a selling point also, but this has so far been our only chance for this kind of job) they have 2 laundrey rooms and a secured garage (we get one space for free). our building is older, i think she said 1978. so all the apartments and townhomes are large. we will have mostly college students that have their parents as co-signers because they have to earn 3 times their rent in wages. college kids can't even come close to that. most of the residents are from out of the country (aparently they have more money). so i will be showing the same apartment 2, 3 or even 4 times before they move in because the parents want to see it, then all the roomates want to see it and they don't all come at the same time. but they do rent easy even though they are more expensive. it's a non-smoking and pet free complex, yeah for me! we will have professional cleaners and maintenance guys if we can't or don't want to do the work ourselves. but we do have the option to make extra money doing that work, so that's nice. i really was looking for a complex that provided full rent coverage plus extra saraly, but we don't have any experience so that's pretty hard to come by. but the extra work will help.
rob and i went out to my mom's house yesterday to get all of our boxes down and ready to be picked up. as i was gathering boxes i would open them and look quickly to see what i have been missing for the past 13 months. there was so much excitement inside me i almost couldn't contain myself. I MISS MY STUFF! it's weird to actually miss stuff. but i do, a lot. i miss my kitchen stuff, my decorations, everyday ones and all my holiday ones, but most of all i miss my own place. it doesn't mater where that place is, just that it's ours is what i miss.
as i have been packing i have realized how little we have here. which is making my life a little less complicated. i started packing on saturday, probably a little early because we aren't moving our stuff until thursday. but i get a little anxous and need to be proactive so that i don't stress myself out. i would rather live with nothing and have it all in boxes ready to go then live with everything and have to pack everything that day. i just need to be prepared.
we currently only have one car because they are too expensive and besides rob can walk to work in 20 minutes. but he can't walk to work anymore. poor guy has to ride the bus now. it's an hour both ways regardless if you drive or go by bus. so the bus it is. sorry daddy, i know how much you hate the bus but i appreciate your sacrifice for us. i love you.
i'm sure there is more to tell, but i just can't think about anything else but packing. yuk!
I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for this wonderful opportunity. i know that He hears and answers prayers. becuase he heard and answered mine. this past year has been the most trying of all our 6 years together (4.5 married). but we did it, learned a lot and are moving on to start the next chapter in our lives. it's amazing how our lives are one big chapter book. but there is no way that we could have done it with out Him. He is our rock and i'm lucky to have Him in the center of our family.
oh, and of course julie. she opened her condo to our 3 person family knowing that it would be hard and crowded. i'm not really sure what we would have done if she hadn't opened her home to us. i dont' really want to think about because i probably would have HAD to go back to work full time and i would have totally missed logan's first year. that makes me cry :( so thank you julie, from the bottom of our deep schmalle hearts. we love and appreciate all that you have done for us.

I hope this year will be the best for you! I know exactly how you feel about discovering your old stuff again. We've lived with family a couple times and even when your place is small, it's still your home. I'm still trying to make our place the best home I can. :)
Good luck with the apartment managing job! That is awesome and not surprising at all that they chose you. You have such a great personality.
